Chateau Rauzan-Segla Margaux Medoc 750ML
From the Producers
CHATEAU RAUZAN-SEGLA 'MARGAUX MEDOC'
A classic Margaux, this blend of 58 % Cabernet Sauvignon and 42 % Merlot reveals a dense plum/blue/purple color in addition to a sumptuous perfume of subtle new oak interwoven with underbrush, black currants, black raspberries, spring flowers, and a hint of dusty, loamy soil. Medium to full-bodied with sweet but abundant tannin, and beautiful purity, texture, and equilibrium.
Terroir: Deep and fine gravel
Grape varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon: 58 %, Merlot: 42 %
The 2009 vintage was marked by wet weather at the beginning of the spring and a dry weather at the end with a water deficit for the eighth consecutive year. After a cold winter, the rainy spring arrived with warm temperatures causing a rapid and even budburst at the beginning of April. Flowering, observed by the end of May, and «véraison», noted around July 25th, took place without any particular difficulty, with exceptionally sunny and dry weather.
Before harvest, the temperature range (warm days, cool nights) and the lack of rain helped complete the maturation process of the grapes in ideal conditions just like in 2005.
